If you’re like most Americans, you probably know someone whose life has been touched by cancer. Sadly, this deadly disease is on the rise: in 2016, an estimated 1,685,210 people in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer, and 595,690 will pass away from the illness.

No-Shave November is an annual event that was created to raise awareness for cancer. Each year in November, participants pledge to skip shaving for the entire month. The goal is to inspire conversation surrounding cancer and cancer prevention. Additionally, No-Shave November is symbolic of the struggles faced by those who have been diagnosed with cancer, as cancer patients often lose their hair during treatment. No-Shave November participants typically choose to donate the money they would have spent on shaving supplies (which definitely adds up!) to charities that support cancer awareness, treatment, and research.
